Looking for gifts around someone’s hobby is usually a great idea. However, if you aren’t sure about what tools they prefer (or might already have), it can be a bit tricky. In this guide, I’ll walk you through some gifts for sewing lovers in your life.

Whether they like to sew clothes or need something for a larger sewing room. I’ve also found some fun sewing-related accessories for the sewist who has everything.

Gifts for sewing: Garment sewists

Indiestitch Subscription Box

I‘ve tried this subscription box myself, and I think this would make a very thoughtful gift for someone with some sewing experience who loves to sew clothes for themselves. Each box includes a pattern and all the materials required, plus there’s usually another nice sewing item inside.

Tailor’s Clapper

A pressing tool that isn’t quite as common but a useful item to have. It’s used to press fabric flat after pressing with an iron. After ironing with steam, you can use this to pound bulky seams to lay flatter – this is especially useful for things like jeans hems that can be bulky.

Tailor’s Ham

This funny-shaped object is used to support curved seams while pressing. It is one of those tools that once you get used to using, you can’t do without again. This is the same one that I use, and I’ve had mine for at least 10 years!

Gifts for sewing spaces

Whether the sewing space is small or there is a dedicated sewing room, keeping sewing supplies organized is important. Here are some sewing space solutions at different price points.

Tackle Box

Yes…a tackle box! When I first started sewing, I used a tackle box to sort and organize sewing supplies. I didn’t have a designated sewing area at the time, so a portable storage system for small items was exactly what I needed. I still use mine as a kit box for when I work wardrobe jobs on TV sets.

Thimble Craft Container

This thimble-shaped container for your pens, pencils, markers and more is just too cute. Perfect for sewing spaces or a regular desk for the sewing lover.

Sewing Cabinets

Safety Pin Earrings

Earrings that look a little punk but still elegant, AND sewing-themed? Perfect for the sewing enthusiast who wants to stand out with bold accessories.

Sewing Machine Earrings

For the sewist who loves cute earrings.

Sewing Machine Enamel Pin

This cute little pin would look great on a jacket lapel or fabric bag.

Sewing Machine Keychain

A beautiful place to store your keys. The hook feature could instead be used to clip onto a bag as a charm.

Sewing Machine Tote bag set

Cute sewing-themed gift set. Can be used for sewing-related storage or travel.

I hope that gives you some ideas for the sewing lover in your life! What are some sewing-related gifts you have received and enjoyed?
