Sewing Patterns and Tools

I thought I would put together a resource page with some of my must have sewing tools and sewing pattern recommendations all in one place.

I will periodically add more sewing tools and patterns to this list, so come back and check again in the future.

Digital Sewing Patterns (PDFs)

Digital sewing patterns are sewing patterns available to download and print out at home. You will have to either print out multiple sheets and tape them together or you may be able to get them printed at a local copy shop (check with your local copy shop first).

I highly recommend Rebecca Page sewing patterns. There is a lot to choose from with this company – women’s , kids and accessories. The tutorials are always good, and I love that there is a nice range of sizes available (check with each pattern, but many are XXS-5X). Below are just a handful of many patterns that are available.

Modern Sewing Patterns

I like the bohemian style of these sewing patterns! They come with clear step by step tutorials. Women’s sewing patterns and accessories.

Children’s Sewing Patterns

The Eli Monster has sewing patterns for girls and boys. It seems like there are way more sewing patterns for girls available online than there are boys, but there is both here. I particularly like the THE WESTELIJK SHIRT SEWING PATTERN FOR BOYS AND GIRLS.

Rebecca Page also has sewing patterns for children.

My must have sewing tools

Tailor’s Ham

If you are sewing clothes from woven fabrics, I really recommend getting a tailor’s ham to help pressing darts and curves. I use mine for much more than that, it lives most of the time on my ironing board.

To read more about using a tailor’s ham, check out my post on Pressing and Ironing Tools. Pressing curves without something underneath to hold the shape of the curve is almost like trying to flatten an orange peel. A tailor’s ham is a small item that can really help give professional looking results when you to to press your sewing.

Laundry Detergent

I’ve started using Tru Earth Laundry Strips. These are a convenient, eco friendly option. Skip the bulky plastic jug and try laundry strips instead – way less packaging to lug from the store and make a mess. Cleans as well as the regular stuff in my opinion and it gets shipped to you.
