Last winter I designed this cozy flannel scarf. It’s quite warm, and I like that it offers good neck and shoulder coverage without being dangly/having to be re-wrapped. It buttons over the shoulder, and is almost like a cross between a scarf and a shawl.

I will be presenting a video tutorial on how to sew this scarf at the Quick Gifts Summit.

The Quick Gifts Summit is a FREE online event where you’ll get 13 free classes and tutorials from pattern designers, sewing bloggers, and pattern testers!

You can join in from anywhere in the world, and tune in for any or all of the classes you are interested in. Classes are free to watch for one day during the summit (you’ll get an email with the classes where the videos for that day are free for 24 hours, the summit has a few different videos a day), or you can choose to get the All Access Pass for lifetime access, which also gets you the tutorials right away.

I’m also looking forward to making some of the other projects for gifts (ok, a few of them will be gifts to myself 🙂 ) There are 13 creators presenting their videos on making different quick gifts.

  1. I attended the summit and LOVED your flannel scarf tutorial. I made my first scarf and all seemed fine until I tried it on. It appears that I put either the buttonholes or the buttons in the wrong place. Would it be possible for you to send me those measurements, please? I have more scarves ready for buttons and buttonholes for Christmas gifts. Thank you in advance!

    • Hi Ruth! The buttonholes are farther apart than the buttons, to scrunch the fabric a bit on the shoulder when it is buttoned. The buttons go on the shoulder – I like to button mine under my chin and then move the buttons over to my left shoulder after. I can email you too. Thanks, Elise
